Scoutmaster Minute September 29, 2014
Scoutmaster
passed out 15’ lengths of rope and asked the scouts each to tie a knot,
any knot they wanted, in the rope. While you are tying the knots, I
want you to sing along with me to the Jeopardy final question song.
A
minute passed. Every scout had a knot, and about a fourth of the
scouts, mostly the younger scouts, were humming along with the song.
The Scoutmaster:
This week’s minute is a two part-er. First part: this rope (holds up rope) is scouting. The knot is what you put into it, and what you get out of it. You guys get to keep this length of rope to remind you that scouting is what you make of it.
Second point. The theme song. Some of you caught
the Jeopardy song. You started singing it because I asked you to, but
you kept singing it after the first time through. A cheerful attitude is
like the Jeopardy theme song. You can catch it by trying.
